Lead Financial Reporting, Governance & Business Partnership in Australia's Growing Defence Industry

About the Role

Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA) is seeking an experienced Finance Control Manager to lead our financial accounting, statutory reporting, external audit management, group reporting and manufacturing accounting activities.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will lead and develop the accounting team, ensuring a high-performing finance function that delivers accurate, timely and compliant financial information to support business decision-making and growth.

Beyond technical accounting expertise, you will be a trusted business partner, building strong relationships across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Programs and Executive Leadership. Your ability to communicate complex financial matters clearly, influence stakeholders and provide valuable financial insights will be critical in supporting strategic decision-making and the continued growth of the business.

This role is ideal for a technically strong finance leader who combines exceptional financial control expertise with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence business outcomes within a complex manufacturing environment.

Key Accountabilities

- Lead and develop the financial accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Lead month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Oversee general ledger integrity, balance sheet reconciliations and compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
- Prepare and coordinate statutory financial statements and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Manage all Hanwha Group reporting requirements and act as the key liaison with Hanwha headquarters finance teams.
- Lead the end-to-end external audit process and manage relationships with auditors and professional advisors.
- Provide oversight of inventory,



work-in-progress and manufacturing accounting activities to ensure accurate financial outcomes.
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Program and business leaders to provide financial insights that support informed decision-making.
- Communicate complex accounting and financial matters effectively to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement across financial controls, reporting processes and business performance insights.

About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Substantial experience in financial accounting, financial reporting and finance operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
- Solid experience in statutory reporting and external audit management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
- Experience working within manufacturing, defence, project-based or similarly complex operational environments.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, manufacturing accounting and balance sheet management.
- Experience working within multinational organisations and group reporting environments.
- Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing high-performing accounting or finance teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build credibility and influence across all levels of an organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with operational and business leaders to support commercial and strategic decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.




- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA or other integrated enterprise platforms.

Qualifications

- CPA Australia, CA ANZ, ACCA or equivalent professional accounting qualification (essential).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
- Manufacturing accounting and/or ERP experience will be highly regarded.

- Australian Citizen
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance at a minimum Baseline level.
