We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our Finance team in our corporate office in Deakin.
Working closely with the Director of Corporate Services, Chief Executive Officer, and existing Financial Controller, this position has been established to provide additional financial leadership and capacity during a critical period for the organisation, including Enterprise Agreement (EA) negotiations, commissioning activities, and broader strategic and operational initiatives.
About the Role
- Working as part of a small Finance Team, some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality financial analysis, modelling, reporting, and advice to support organisational decision making
- Leading and supporting Enterprise Agreement scenario modelling
- Developing and refining budgets and forecasts
- Preparing financial advice for executive decision making
- Improving financial visibility and accountability across the organisation
- Maintaining the organisation's financial systems
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and legislative requirements
- Supporting financial controls and audit processes, and promoting the efficient and effective use of organisational resources
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for the CEO, Board, funders, and Program Managers and support strategic planning, risk assessment, and organisational performance monitoring
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
- CPA / CA qualification (or significant progress towards completion).
- Minimum five years' experience in financial management, financial analysis or business partnering roles.
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and financial reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience developing complex financial models.
- Working with Vulnerable People Registration (or ability to obtain).
- Current National Police Check
Desirable
- Membership of a recognised professional accounting body or progress towards such membership
- Experience supporting Enterprise Agreement negotiations or workforce cost modelling.
- Experience in the community, health, human services or not-for-profit sector.
- Experience working with government funding arrangements and commissioning environments.
- Experience with Xero, Employment Hero/KeyPay and associated financial systems.
