Workfast is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join a well-established Australian-owned organisation specialising in recycling, waste recovery and resource recovery solutions.

About the Role

Working within a busy Facility in Townsville, you'll play a key role in keeping plant and machinery operating safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on position involving both preventative and reactive maintenance, with a strong focus on conveyors and processing equipment. Welding and fabrication will also form part of the role when required during downtime.

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across plant and machinery
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults
- Maintain and repair conveyor systems and associated equipment
- Identify potential equipment issues and assist with continuous improvement
- Complete welding and fabrication tasks when required
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Follow all site safety procedures and report hazards, near misses and unsafe practices
- Work closely with the maintenance and operations teams to ensure equipment reliability

About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Maintenance Fitter in waste/recycling, manufacturing, FMCG, food production or heavy industrial environments
- Solid mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills




- Experience working with conveyors and processing equipment
- Proven welding experience
- Mechanical trade qualification such as Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (desirable)
- Experience working with mobile plant and mechanical equipment
- A strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- The ability to work independently while also being part of a wider maintenance team
