About OpenBA

OpenBA is a proptech AI agent platform used every day by more than 100 professional buyer's agents across Australia. It's a live, paid product that agencies rely on to run core parts of their business, not a prototype.

Our AI agents source properties, run due diligence, turn inspections into client-ready reports and integrate with major property data providers. That means messy real-world data, non-deterministic systems that have to be right, and professional users who notice straight away when they're not.

Under the hood, we run agentic workflows on the latest LLMs, backed by evals and guardrails that keep them reliable. We've shipped a full MCP data layer so AI agents can read and write property records directly, and we test new models and tooling as they land. If you care about where agentic software is heading, you'll be working on it in production, not reading about it.

About the Role

As a Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you work right alongside our customers. You'll learn how a buyer's agent actually spends their week, spot where the hours disappear, and turn that into agents, workflows and features that make the pain go away.

You own problems end to end: understanding the customer, designing the solution, writing the evals, shipping to production and watching it get used.



You'll have the autonomy to make the technical calls and the responsibility to make them reliable.

This isn't a ramp-up role. You'll be putting real value in front of real agencies within your first few weeks.

What You'll Do

- Sit with buyer's agents to understand their workflows and uncover where AI can remove genuine pain
- Build and ship LLM-powered features across sourcing, outreach, inspection reports and client communication
- Design evals and guardrails so everything we ship is accurate and trusted by professionals guiding clients through one of the biggest purchases of their lives
- Extend our MCP layer and integrations (such as HtAG and Zoho) so agents can plug OpenBA into the tools they already use
- Stay on top of new models and tooling, and know when to adopt, test or ignore them
- Turn one-off customer fixes into product the whole platform benefits from

You Might Be a Fit If You

- Get told you take AI too far (like building a bot to reply to your mum's or partner's texts because you couldn't be bothered)
- Know what shipped in the latest Hermes release without looking it up
- Get a real kick out of writing evals that catch the edge cases nobody else saw coming
- Spot the prompt injection risk before anyone else in the room, and treat client data like it's your own
- Love patiently understanding a customer's pain and crafting a creative, simple solution that delights




- Have shipped production software using LLMs, agents or RAG, and have opinions on what actually works
- Are comfortable working across the full stack, from data pipelines to the UI
- Can explain technical ideas clearly to non-technical users (bonus points if property interests you)
