Qualified Horticulturist – Full Time

Long Reef Golf Club is uniquely positioned on Sydney’s beautiful Northern Beaches, with a spectacular coastal setting and extensive areas of native vegetation, gardens and natural habitat.

We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Horticulturist to join our Course Maintenance team on a full-time basis.

This is a varied, hands-on role responsible for the care and presentation of our established native gardens, native grasslands, waterways and wetland areas, as well as the gardens and lawns surrounding the Clubhouse.

The role will also provide opportunities to be involved in the development and improvement of recent garden and landscaped areas throughout the golf course and Clubhouse surrounds. Experience in landscaping or landscape construction would therefore be highly regarded. The position will require physical work and the ability to safely operate a variety of machinery and use of chemicals to spray weeds or pests if required.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include

- Maintaining established native gardens, grasslands, waterways and wetland areas

- Maintaining Clubhouse gardens and lawns to a high presentation standard

- Plant propagation, including propagation from indigenous seed stock

- Weed and pest management, including the safe application of chemicals

- Operating machinery, power tools and horticultural maintenance equipment

- Assisting with the construction and redevelopment of garden and landscaped areas

- Maintaining accurate records relating to horticultural activities and chemical use





- Working within allocated budgets and assisting with planning and ordering

- Supporting the wider Course Maintenance team when required

About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

- A recognised horticultural qualification and relevant industry experience

- Strong knowledge of native plants and grasses

- Experience in weed and pest management
- A current ChemCert qualification or equivalent chemical accreditation
- The ability to safely operate machinery, power tools and maintenance equipment, including chainsaws
- A current driver's licence

- Good organisational and communication skills

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records
- A good level of physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual work
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A reliable, positive attitude and strong work ethic

Landscape construction experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

The Position

This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week, with early morning starts required.

Uniforms and tools will be supplied. Flexibility for additional weekend morning shifts assisting with golf course preparation if required.

From time to time, you may also be required to assist the broader Course Maintenance team with general golf course duties.
