About the role

As the Fundraising and Partnerships Lead you will implement the major gifts and planned giving strategy already adopted by Scouts ACT. The groundwork is done: an independent fundraising strategy has been completed, targets are set, a case for support has been drafted, and there is a dedicated budget for donor cultivation and events. Your job is to bring it to life.

The role is funded for an initial three year program, recognising the time it takes to establish and grow an effective philanthropy program.

You will be a Scouts ACT employee reporting to the Executive Officer, based with our small Branch team in Garran, with flexibility on days and working from home.

Key responsibilities

- Identify, qualify and cultivate major donor and bequest prospects among former Scouts, families, business owners and philanthropists in the ACT

- Build and steward long term relationships with individual donors, supporters and community and corporate partners, including proposals and asks alongside the Executive Officer and Board

- Develop and launch a Gifts in Wills (bequests) program, including messaging and stewardship

- Lead the planning and management of capital appeals and major fundraising initiatives as they arise

- Establish the stewardship, recognition, reporting and donor data practices that make the program sustainable

- Support two annual community appeals and donor communications with our team

About you

- A track record of securing significant gifts, grants, sponsorships or contracts through personal relationships, whether in fundraising,

alumni or advancement, private banking, qualified services, membership organisations or business development

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the confidence to ask

- Sound project management skills and attention to detail, with the ability to run your own pipeline and report on it plainly
- A strategic mindset coupled with a practical, hands on approach

- Experience with capital appeals, bequest programs or a CRM (welcome, not essential)

- A current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration, or the ability to obtain one, and the right to work in Australia
