General Manager – Operations

We are entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation and are seeking an experienced General Manager - Operations to provide strategic and operational leadership across our service portfolio.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this is a senior leadership position with genuine influence across operational performance, customer outcomes, workforce capability, financial sustainability and business growth.
The Prospect
As General Manager - Operations, you will take overall accountability for operational performance across an assigned portfolio, working closely with Operations Managers and senior leaders to deliver safe, high-quality and commercially sustainable services.
You will be responsible for turning strategy into execution - driving performance, strengthening operational capability, improving systems and processes, and leading initiatives that support the continued growth of People First Healthcare.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across an assigned regional and service portfolio
- Lead, develop and support Operations Managers and their leadership teams
- Drive performance against operational, customer, workforce, quality and financial KPIs
- Maintain accountability for budgets, financial performance and sustainable growth
- Improve workforce productivity, utilisation, capacity and service efficiency
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve service delivery, margins and operational performance
- Lead strategic projects, transformation programs and operational change from scope through to execution
- Strengthen operating models, systems, processes and accountability frameworks
- Ensure services are delivered safely and in accordance with regulatory, funding and contractual requirements
- Monitor customer experience and service outcomes, using data to drive continuous improvement
- Build strong relationships with customers, government stakeholders, community partners and sector networks
- Work closely with Finance, HR, Workforce, Compliance to deliver organisation-wide outcomes
- Develop high-performing leadership teams and embed a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement
- Provide regular operational reporting, insights and recommendations to the executive leadership team
About You
You are an experienced senior operational leader who is comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on execution level.
You understand that successful operations are built through strong people leadership, disciplined performance management, commercial thinking and a relentless focus on customer outcomes. You will ideally bring:
- Senior operational or executive leadership experience within aged care, home care, healthcare, NDIS, community services or another complex regulated service environment
- Experience leading multi-site or geographically dispersed operations
- A strong track record managing operational performance, workforce productivity and service delivery
- Experience managing significant budgets and financial targets
- Demonstrated capability in business transformation, operational improvement and organisational change
- Experience leading and developing senior managers and high-performing leadership teams
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate operational activity into measurable business outcomes
- Strong understanding of governance, quality, compliance and regulatory obligations
- The ability to influence senior stakeholders and work collaboratively across multiple functions
- A data-driven and commercially minded approach to decision-making
- Exceptional communication,
stakeholder management and problem-solving capability
