Graduate Accountant

We’re looking for a Graduate Accountant to join our Financial Performance team. In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience across a broad range of accounting functions while supporting the financial sustainability and success of Latrobe City Council.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Supporting financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting activities across Council
- Assisting with the maintenance of financial ledgers, journals and charts of accounts




- Helping administer and improve Council's financial systems while supporting users across the organisation
- Maintaining grant registers and assisting with grant claims, reporting and acquittals
- Supporting asset accounting processes, including asset register maintenance and stocktakes
- Working collaboratively across the Accounting Services team to deliver quality financial outcomes

About You You are a motivated and detail-oriented accounting graduate or emerging accounting professional who is eager to learn and develop your career. You enjoy working with numbers, systems and people, and take pride in producing accurate, high-quality work. You bring a sound understanding of accounting principles, solid technology skills and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders. You enjoy working collaboratively, can manage competing priorities and are keen to contribute to meaningful work that supports the local community.

Key Criteria

- A tertiary degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline (eligibility for CA/CPA program entry is highly regarded) or working towards a tertiary degree and have relevant accounting experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of key accounting concepts and principles and an ability to interpret financial data accurately.
- Demonstrated ability to plan work, manage competing priorities, and consistently meet strict organisational deadlines.




- Strong technical aptitude, including intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the capacity to handle system administration for corporate financial software
