Head of Multicultural Child and Family Program

About Role

SSI is seeking an experienced, values-driven leader to lead our Multicultural Child and Family Program (MCFP), a nationally recognised service supporting multicultural children, young people and families.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across permanency support, family preservation and humanitarian programs, leading senior leaders and shaping culturally responsive services across NSW, VIC and QLD.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Program Direction

- Lead the direction, growth and sustainability of MCFP, ensuring services deliver strong outcomes for multicultural children, young people and families.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, diversification and expansion while maintaining quality and impact.

Operational Excellence & Service Quality

- Oversee program operations, ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively and in line with contractual, legislative and accreditation requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement and evidence-informed decision making across all program streams.
- Foster accountability, learning and performance to support outcomes for children and families.

Leadership & Workforce Capability

- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing leadership team, building capability, engagement and succession.
- Create an inclusive and psychologically safe culture that reflects SSI's values and commitment to child safety.

Stakeholder Engagement & Sector Influence

- Build strategic relationships with government agencies, sector partners, peak bodies, community organisations and research institutions.





Financial Management & Governance

- Hold accountability for budgets, financial performance, resource allocation and long-term sustainability.
- Embed strong governance, risk management, compliance and reporting frameworks across the program.

Cultural Practice & Child Safe Leadership

- Champion culturally responsive practice that recognises and values the diversity of children, young people and families.
- Lead SSI’s commitment to child-safe organisations by embedding safeguarding, quality and compliance across services.

About You You are an accomplished senior leader with significant experience in child, family, community or human services. You bring strong stakeholder, commercial and operational leadership capability, and have led teams through growth, reform or change.

Most importantly, you are a collaborative, authentic leader who builds trust, brings people on the journey and drives meaningful impact for children and families.

Essential Criteria

- Senior executive or substantial leadership experience in child and family services, community services, human services or a related sector.
- Extensive knowledge of child and family service systems, including out-of-home care, safeguarding and contemporary practice approaches.
- Exceptional relationship management skills,



engaging government agencies, funding bodies, community organisations and sector stakeholders.
- Experience managing significant budgets, financial performance and organisational risk.
- Commitment to SSI's values of Respect, Accountability and Inclusion.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, influence and lead through change.
