About the role - Health, Safety & Wellbeing Officer

This is a 12-month fixed-term position available on a part-time or full-time basis.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will play a key operational role in supporting AMCS to promote a safe, healthy and positive workplace for the wellbeing of our people.

You will work across corporate, community and direct-care environments, with a strong focus on translating health and safety requirements into practical solutions that work for our people.

Key responsibilities

- Providing practical health, safety and wellbeing advice to managers and employees.

- Supporting the identification, assessment and management of workplace hazards and risks.

- Supporting incident reporting, investigation and follow-up actions.

- Undertaking workplace inspections, risk assessments and safety reviews.

- Supporting the management of psychosocial hazards and employee wellbeing initiatives.

- Reviewing and developing HSW policies, procedures, guidelines and supporting documentation.

- Supporting managers to implement appropriate risk controls and corrective actions.





- Assisting with HSW reporting, data analysis and identification of emerging trends.

- Supporting consultation with employees, Health and Safety Representatives and the HSW Committee.

- Contributing to HSW training, education and safety communications.

- Supporting compliance with Victorian occupational health and safety legislation and relevant aged care requirements.

- Working collaboratively with People & Culture, operational leaders and other stakeholders to continue building a positive safety culture.

About you

We are looking for someone who combines strong health and safety knowledge with a practical and approachable style.

You will ideally bring

- Relevant qualifications in occupational health and safety, workplace health and safety, wellbeing, or a related discipline.

- Demonstrated experience in an operational health, safety and wellbeing role.

- Sound knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation, regulations and contemporary safety practice

- Experience conducting risk assessments, workplace inspections and incident investigations

- Demonstrated ability to review and develop policies, procedures and safety systems

- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

- Confidence working directly with managers and employees to resolve safety issues

- Strong judgement and the ability to balance compliance requirements with practical operational needs

- Good organisational, reporting and analytical skills.

- Experience within aged care, community services, disability, healthcare or another dispersed/direct-care workforce environment will be highly regarded.

This is a 12-month fixed-term position available on a part-time or full time basis, based at our Seddon office, with hybrid working arrangements and travel to other AMCS workplaces and community-based work locations as required.
