About Wilson Pateras
Wilson Pateras is a multidisciplinary public practice firm providing expertise across accounting and tax, financial services and finance broking to personal, business and wealth clients. Our Sydney CBD practice has more than 50 years' experience delivering practical accounting, tax and audit services to a broad and diverse client base.
We are seeking an experienced Intermediate / Senior Accountant to join our Sydney CBD team.
About the Role
Reporting to Managers and Principals, this role will see you working across a diverse portfolio of clients and assisting with a broad range of accounting and taxation matters. You will have the opportunity to further develop your technical skills, work closely with clients and senior team members, and provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff where required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing financial and management accounts and associated working papers
- Preparing income tax returns and other statutory returns, including FBT, Payroll Tax and Land Tax
- Preparing BAS, IAS and PAYG Instalment variations
- Working with individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and family-owned businesses
- Completing Division 7A calculations and maintaining CGT and statutory registers
- Assisting with ASIC, Workers' Compensation and STP reporting
- Liaising directly with clients and external stakeholders, including the ATO, Revenue NSW, ASIC and ACNC
- Assisting Managers with complex taxation matters and other technical work
- Responding to client accounting and taxation queries
- Providing mentoring and support to junior team members where required
- Opportunity to gain exposure to self-managed superannuation fund work
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business
- A minimum of three years' public practice experience
- An intention to commence, or be currently working towards, a CA or CPA qualification
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
- Robust attention to detail and respect for client confidentiality
- Good Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook skills
- Experience with Xero, Xero Practice Manager, Xero Tax, FYI Docs, ATO Portal or Now Infinity will be advantageous
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency
