Sound like you? Here is what you should know… About the Role The Irrigation Assistant works across our pecan orchards. These orchards are a mix of development and producing trees with Netafim single net irrigation. The role is to provide day-to-day support to the Stahmann Webster's orchard management team and staff in all aspects of irrigation operations.
Duties include but not limited to
- Support and setting up programs in the MAIT irrigation management system for irrigation scheduling.
- Irrigation system repairs including identification of the best solution and assistance with sourcing of contractors and service providers.
- Compilation of irrigation system maintenance programs and monitoring of timely and successful execution thereof including water fulfilment.
- Pump and filter troubleshooting.
- Undertakes daily monitoring of crops for plant development and growth.
- Update and monitor all fertigation and irrigation records to ensure programs are being followed correctly.
- Liaises with Orchard Manager’s concerning when irrigation is required. Co-ordinates necessary irrigation maintenance and capital work as well as overseeing training and relevant document completion.
- Chemical dosing and fertigation – monitoring calibration of pumps and accuracy of application rates.
- Fulfill reporting responsibilities as required.
- Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the business to ensure efficient operation of growing operations.
Essential Criteria, Skills and Experience
- Degree or certificate in Agronomy or 5+ years industry experience.
- Chemcert Certificate
- Knowledge of horticultural tree crops.
- Ability to supervise and train employees – organising, prioritising and scheduling work assignments
- Ability to communicate effectively and exhibit efficiency and commitment to work to strict deadlines
- Knowledge of field machinery, intensive horticultural operations, crop maintenance and crop hygiene
- Ability to meet KPI’s and complete cost reporting
- Solid knowledge of WHS
- Understanding of Integrated Pest Management
- Valid driver’s licence

What You Should Know About Our Operations Our business is widespread, growing walnuts and almonds in the Riverina Region in New South Wales, pecans in Moree and macadamias, avocados, mangoes in Bundaberg, Queensland. In addition to fruit and nut growing, we also operate apiaries located in Temora, Nowra and Dubbo.
Off the paddock, we operate nut processing and packing facilities in Leeton, Toowoomba and Bundaberg as well as fruit packing and processing in Bundaberg. In addition, our shared services teams (Finance, Sales, ESG, Safety and People & Culture) are located across all of our sites as well as the Brisbane, Melbourne and Griffith offices.
