Staff Specialist – CCT North/Central (Community Reliever) • ASAP - 02.10.26 • 19.10.26 - 13.11.26 • 14.12.26 – 30.04.27 *UPDATED • 31.05.27 – 27.06.27 *UPDATED o Central - This is a community-based adult Mental Health Service based out of Cairns North. It provides continuing care to consumers in the Central area of Cairns. Most consumers have either a psychotic illness or severe mood disorder and there is a high homeless population. There is a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, one registrar, and a 0.6FTE consultant attending to 180-210 patients (including cloz GP shared care). o North - This is a community-based adult Mental Health Service based out of Smithfield that provides continuing care to consumers in the North area of Cairns. Most of our consumers have either a psychotic illness or severe mood disorder. There is a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, one registrar, and a 0.6FTE consultant attending to 170-190 patients. o Monday to Friday 0800 – 1630 o No nights o No weekends o No on call o Christmas period – locum required for non-public holidays, no work on public holidays Staff Specialist – Cairns – ED & Consultation Liaison • ASAP – 02.10.26 o The Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service (CLPS) provides psychiatric assessment, support, and education to the inpatient wards of Cairns Hospital. Role offers wide range of patients referred including those admitted medically or surgically following suicide/self-harm, eating disorders, perinatal, neuropsychiatric presentations, medically unexplained symptoms & case-managed consumers who have been admitted to hospital for medical/surgical reasons. Role is supported by two training registrars and 2 experienced CNCs. Role would involve triaging referrals and offering comprehensive psychiatric assessments. Key part of this role is supporting medical/surgical teams via liaison meetings & education- focusing on high quality patient care especially of MH patients in a medical setting. o Monday to Friday 0800 – 1630 o No nights o No weekends o No on call Staff Specialist – Cairns – CCT South • ASAP – 09.10.26 *UPDATED • 26.10.26 – 30.10.26 – Returning locums only • 14.12.26 – 18.12.26 – Returning locums only o This is a community-based adult Mental Health Service based out of 10-12 Roberts Road. It provides continuing care to consumers in the South area of Cairns. Most of our consumers have either a psychotic illness or severe mood disorder with high first nations and captures Yarrabah Indigenous community. There is also a high volume of patients on SILS accommodation and Forensic orders.



There is a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, one registrar, and a 0.6FTE consultant attending to 210-250 patients including Yarrabah and cloz shared care. o Monday to Friday 0800 – 1630 o No nights o No weekends o No on call Staff Specialist – Cairns – Remote West • ASAP – 02.10.26 • 02.11.26 – 18.12.26 • 04.01.27 – 27.06.27 o Fly-in, Fly-out position to the Torres and Cape serving remote communities. The typical schedule is 1 week on outreach and the other based from cairns each fortnight. There is 1 registrar with this team who typically travels with the consultant. Hours are Monday to Friday 0800 - 1630, travel can occasionally fall outside of these hours during outreach. Outreach accommodation and travel is arranged by the service. No nights, on call or weekends. Indigenous communities of Aurukun, Kowanyama, Pormpuraaw, Lockhart River, Napranum, Mapoon and townships of Weipa and Coen. Clinic times are usually 0900-1530 to allow for travel to and from Cairns within business hours. On Cairns based days Drs attend to MDTs and VC clinics. There is 1 registrar attached to this team.
