We are currently looking for a passionate Senior Data Centre Technician to join our Sunshine Coast facilities team.
n
The purpose of this role is to support the Facility Manager with the day-to-day operations of the data centre by providing high quality & efficient technical maintenance and customer service. This role will also be the lead in SME for the team of Data Centre Technicians and be required to participate in an on-call roster.
n
What you'll do:
n
n
- Ensure the safe, secure, and reliable operation of the data centre by managing WHS, security, and critical facility systems.
n
- Perform HV switching as directed
n
- Coordinate customer provisioning requests, ensuring work is completed accurately, on time, and to a high standard.
n
- Manage contractors, workloads, and staffing resources to meet operational demands and SLAs.
n
- Plan and maintain cabling infrastructure capacity to support customer growth and ensure service availability.
n
- Act as the facility Subject Matter Expert (SME) for communications infrastructure, including cabling, power monitoring, rack locking, and environmental monitoring.
n
- Assist with customer equipment installation, facility maintenance, and day-to-day operational activities.
n
- Maintain high standards of facility cleanliness, presentation, and operational readiness.
n
- Escalate incidents in line with established procedures and support timely resolution.
n
- Drive continuous improvement by developing and enhancing operational processes, policies, and workflows.
n
- Lead facility training initiatives and provide technical guidance to the wider team.
n
- Prepare operational reports and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and performance.
n
- Collaborate across teams to deliver excellent customer service and support business objectives.
n
- Participate in ongoing learning and professional development to build technical and operational expertise.
n
- Complete additional duties as required by the Facilities Manager.
n

What you need:
n
n
- Solid customer service skills, with experience managing customer queries and escalations.
n
- Excellent planning, organisation, and problem-solving abilities.
n
- Knowledge of data centre operations, including rack management, IT equipment installation, power, and cooling systems.
n
- Experience with structured cabling, cable management, and quality assurance.
n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
n
- Eagerness to learn about high-density power systems and advanced cooling technologies.
n
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
n
- Familiarity with building management and monitoring systems (desirable).
n
- Relevant electrical or telecommunications installation/testing qualifications (desirable).
n
- Basic understanding of the ITIL framework (desirable).
n
n
Qualifications
n
n
- 3-5 years' experience in a similar role within a critical facility or data centre.
n
- Electrical or telecommunications qualifications and hands-on experience.
n
- Experience leading a team or working in a team lead capacity.
n
- Certificate III in Telecommunications (preferred) systems
n
- HV switching certification (preferred)
n
n
