We are looking for a Junior Accountant / Tax & Administration Assistant with an accounting background and previous administration experience to join our growing tax accounting practice in Morningside.

For approximately the first six weeks, the role will have a strong administration and client-service focus. The successful candidate will primarily assist with day-to-day administration while receiving training in our accounting and taxation processes.

After this initial period, the role will progressively transition towards accounting and tax-related responsibilities.

Initial responsibilities

During the initial training period, your main responsibilities will include:

- Answering incoming phone calls and assisting with general client enquiries

- Making outgoing calls and following up with clients

- Booking and managing client appointments

- Responding to general client emails

- Preparing, collecting and organising client documents

- Following up with clients for information and documentation

- Data entry and maintaining accurate client records

- Providing general administrative support to the tax agent and accounting team

- Learning our internal systems, procedures and client processes

We need someone who is comfortable taking responsibility for day-to-day administration and client communication and who can become increasingly independent as they learn our systems.

Accounting and tax development

While performing the administration component of the role, you will also receive practical training in Australian taxation and accounting.

As your knowledge and confidence develop, the role will progressively include:

- Preparing Individual Tax Returns

- Assisting with Business Tax Returns

- BAS preparation

- Bookkeeping and reconciliations





- ATO processes and correspondence

- Working with accounting and tax software

- Other practical taxation and accounting work

Our goal is to find someone who can initially provide strong administrative support while being trained, and then develop into a Junior Accountant / Tax Accountant within the practice.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who:

- Has an accounting background or accounting qualification

- Has previous administration, reception, customer service or similar office experience

- Is genuinely interested in developing a career in Australian taxation and accounting

- Has confident and professional English communication skills

- Is comfortable speaking with clients over the phone

- Can confidently handle both incoming and outgoing calls

- Is organised, reliable and attentive to detail

- Can work independently and manage multiple priorities

- Is confident using computers and able to learn new software quickly

- Is comfortable asking questions while learning

- Has a skilled and client-focused attitude

Previous Australian tax experience would be an advantage but is not essential, as practical training will be provided.
