About the role

We're looking for a recent graduate (or final-year student) in industrial design to join our design team. You'll work alongside our senior designers and production staff on real projects from day one, helping turn architects' briefs into buildable light boxes and ceiling solutions.

Key responsibilities

- Developing designs from concept sketches through to production-ready drawings
- Modelling light box frames, profiles and assemblies in Rhino and SolidWorks
- Producing layouts, presentation drawings and fabric artwork in Illustrator
- Working through design details with our manufacturing team to make sure what we draw is what gets made
- Assisting with prototyping, material sampling and testing

About you

- A degree in Industrial Design (or about to complete one)
- Working knowledge of Illustrator, Rhino and SolidWorks
- A good eye for detail and proportion, and an interest in how things are made
- Comfortable working in a team and taking direction,



but happy to speak up when you have a better idea
- Curious about lighting, architecture and interiors
- Any workshop or fabrication experience is a bonus, not a requirement

About us Newmat Australia designs and manufactures fabric light boxes, acoustic and decorative ceilings for architects and interior designers. We work with Newmat stretch fabric to create backlit ceilings, walls and feature installations, taking each project from concept through to manufacture in-house. We're a small, well-oiled team that values positive ideas, tidy work and people who like seeing things get built.
