Role Description This full-time Lawyer role is based in Melbourne, VIC and is offered as a hybrid position, combining in-office work with some flexibility to work from home. The Lawyer will manage a varied caseload, including insurance and self-insurance matters, motor vehicle and property damage claims, and debt recovery files. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing legal advice, drafting and reviewing legal documents, preparing correspondence, conducting legal research, and representing clients in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings where appropriate.
The role involves collaborating with colleagues across practice areas, maintaining accurate file and matter management, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and qualified standards.
The Lawyer will also contribute to client relationship management, participate in professional development activities, and support the continuous improvement of firm processes and outcomes.
Qualifications
- Either law graduate or admitted as a Lawyer 1 - 2 years with a current practising certificate.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret legislation, case law, and complex documentation.
- Demonstrated capability in drafting clear and accurate legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, advices, settlement agreements, and correspondence.
- Experience with dispute resolution processes, such as negotiation, mediation, and litigation, and confidence in representing clients in relevant forums.
- Effective time management, file management, and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple matters and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain legal concepts in accessible terms and build strong client relationships.
- Professional integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to ethical practice and compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, collaborating with team members in person and remotely, and using legal practice management and digital tools.
