The Role

We're looking for an experienced Lead Security Analyst to strengthen the security posture of a national security agency, based in either Canberra or South Australia. This is a genuinely hands-on threat analysis role -- you'll assess vulnerabilities, monitor security events, and develop the response procedures that keep systems protected against evolving threats, working closely with technical teams and security leadership.

Given the sensitive nature of the workplace, not all work areas can accommodate remote work, so working arrangements will depend on the specific team you're assigned to. Successful candidates will also be required to complete an Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement, and the hiring vendor must hold current Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform analysis of system security based on a threat-driven approach
- Analyse threat intelligence for system-specific threats
- Monitor security events and information for security incidents
- Develop and use incident response plans and playbooks
- Analyse security vulnerabilities and propose solutions
- Review current system security controls for vulnerabilities
- Develop procedures to monitor and analyse security information and events
- Support, plan and conduct test and evaluation activities for deliverable systems and products
- Support the Technical Leadership team as required





Required

- Current TSPV security clearance
- Ability to complete ASD's Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement
- Demonstrated experience working in a Security Operations Centre (SOC) as a Security Analyst
- Demonstrated experience using Splunk Enterprise Security
- Experience with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platforms
- Experience with Network Detection and Response (NDR) platforms
- Experience with a Security Orchestration and Automated Response (SOAR) platform
- Knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight highly regarded

Engagement Details

Onsite -- work from home is not always available, depending on assigned team. Requires a current TSPV security clearance. 12-month engagement, with extension options available.
