Role
The Head of Extracurricular Programs will contribute to the strategic leadership for the development, coordination and evaluation of extracurricular opportunities and student experiences across Melton Secondary College.
The role will lead the College¿s Sports Program and Excursions and Experiences Program and oversees the Enrichment and Instrumental Music Program alongside a range of extracurricular activities and major student events. The Head of Extracurricular Programs will ensure students have access to high-quality opportunities beyond the classroom that develop their interests and talents, provide challenge, build connection and belonging, and create pathways for participation, leadership and achievement.
A key focus of the role will be strengthening opportunities for students to develop and apply the Victorian Curriculum Capabilities through authentic experiences beyond the classroom, intentionally embedding opportunities for Critical and Creative Thinking, Ethical, Intercultural, and Personal and Social capability development across Enrichment, extracurricular programs, excursions, experiences and events.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the strategic development, planning, delivery and evaluation of the College¿s extracurricular and student experience programs, ensuring a broad, high-quality and equitable range of opportunities that increase student participation, engagement, connection, challenge and achievement.
- Lead the delivery of the College Sport Program, including interschool sport, House Sport, major sporting events and the Sport Scholarship Program, strengthening participation, student pathways, leadership, achievement and sportsmanship.
- Lead the College Excursions and Experiences Program, developing a planned and equitable approach to excursions, incursions and other experiences that enrich learning and broaden student opportunities while ensuring effective planning, approval, risk management and operational processes.
- Oversee the Enrichment Program, ensuring students have meaningful opportunities to explore interests, develop new skills, experience challenge and build relationships through experiences across Sport, Arts, Communication and Service.
- Drive the development and embedding of the Victorian Curriculum Capabilities across extracurricular programs and student experiences.
- Oversee the College Instrumental Music Program, ensuring high-quality provision, effective coordination of staff and resources, increased student participation and progression, and opportunities for students to perform, develop their skills and pursue pathways in music.
- Partner with the High Ability Practice Leader and Student Leadership Coordinator to develop and deliver a coherent pathway of opportunity, challenge and leadership beyond the classroom, connecting extracurricular participation with talent development, high-ability opportunities and student leadership.
Other duties as determined by the College Principal in consultation with the incumbent.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

Qualification Requirements
To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class:
- The person must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching; and
- if the person completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January 2024, they must demonstrate that they have satisfactorily completed a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education program that has been accredited by an Australian State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority as satisfying the requirements of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership 'Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia: Standards and Procedures'; and
- a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program after 1 July 2016 must also demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE)
requirements (this condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian ITE program completed by the person).
