About Henty Gold Mine
Henty Gold Mine is well-established with high-quality infrastructure, both above and below ground. It is an established underground gold operation supported by a 198koz Ore Reserve and a conventional 300–400ktpa CIL processing plant, targeting ~30,000oz annual production. Ongoing underground development and exploration drilling programs are focused on resource growth, discovery and extending mine life.
About the role
Kaiser Reef is seeking an experienced Long Term Planning Engineer, based in Perth with travel to site approximately once every 6 weeks, to own strategic mine planning for the Henty Gold Mine.
Long-Term
Key responsibilities
· Develop and maintain the life-of-mine plan,
strategic mine designs and production schedules for Henty
· Prepare annual budget, five-year and life-of-mine schedules covering development, stoping, services and capital requirements
· Oversee the monthly mine plan for site, working with site planning and operations to ensure it aligns with the budget and life-of-mine schedules
· Complete underground mine design work — decline and level development, stope design, mining method selection and cut-off grade optimisation
· Generate Ore Reserve inputs and modifying factors for JORC reporting, working with the Competent Persons
· Run trade-off and scenario studies, economic evaluation and capital assessment to support investment and mine life decisions
· Integrate geology, geotechnical, ventilation, backfill, materials handling and dewatering inputs into the plan
· Reconcile actual performance against plan and maintain planning assumptions, productivities and unit rates
· Support scoping and pre-feasibility study work on mine life extensions and new discoveries
· Maintain planning models and software (Deswik) and continuously improve planning systems and standards
· Ensure plans comply with statutory, environmental and company requirements and appropriately manage operational risk
About you
· Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
· Five or more years' underground mining experience, including time in a mine planning or technical services role
· Strong underground design and scheduling capability in Deswik (CAD and Sched), Surpac, Datamine or Vulcan
· Experience planning narrow-vein or selective underground mining methods
· Sound understanding of JORC Ore Reserve reporting, modifying factors and cut-off grade derivation
· Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, with strong cost estimation and economic evaluation experience
· Ability to work autonomously from a corporate office while building trusted relationships with a remote site team
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present plans and options clearly to operations and executive audiences
· Willingness to travel regularly to Henty in Tasmania
· Current Australian Driver's Licence
