Join Our Team
We are looking for an experienced and reliable CNC Machinist / Machine Operator to join our production team in our Peakhurst Joinery shop. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is mechanically minded, takes pride in their work and enjoys keeping machinery running efficiently. You will be responsible for operating and setting up CNC machinery, edge bander and panel saw equipment, while also assisting with deliveries, forklift operation and maintaining an organised production area.
About the Role
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Operating and setting up CNC machinery, edge bander and panel saw
- Producing components accurately from drawings, plans and specifications
- Measuring and checking finished components to ensure quality and accuracy
- Monitoring machinery during production and making adjustments as required
- Carrying out routine machine cleaning, maintenance and adjustments
- Identifying and troubleshooting basic machine faults
- Performing preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
- Safely operating a forklift to move materials and products around the workplace
- Unloading incoming deliveries using the appropriate equipment and following safe handling procedures
- Checking, sorting and organising deliveries and materials
- Ensuring materials are stored correctly and are easily accessible to the production team
- Keeping machinery, tools, materials and work areas clean, organised and safe
- Following workplace health and safety procedures
- Working closely with the production team to meet deadlines and production targets
- Assisting with general workshop and production duties as required
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience operating CNC machinery, edge bander and panel saw
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills
- Experience with basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting
- The ability to accurately read plans, drawings and measurements
- Forklift operating experience and a current forklift licence
- Experience unloading, checking and sorting deliveries
- A strong understanding of workplace safety and safe manual handling
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A reliable, punctual and positive attitude
- Pride in keeping machinery and the workplace clean, safe and well organised
- Joinery/cabinet making experience
