About the Role

Bowen Rail Company operates one of Australia's newest rail haulage networks, moving product from the Carmichael Mine to the Port of Abbot Point. We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor – Signals to take ownership of the maintenance and reliability of our signaling and telecommunications assets.

Reporting to the Signals and Communications Manager, you'll supervise a team of six rail safety workers along with contractors and maintenance partners, coordinating work across geographically dispersed assets. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being in the field, solving problems and setting the standard for safety.

This position is offered on a preferred residential basis for candidates located in Townsville, Bowen, Mackay or Rockhampton. FIFO arrangements may be considered where a suitable applicant is not available from these locations. The role works a 9 days on, 5 days off roster, comprising 10-hour days from Monday to the following Tuesday.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead from the front on safety — visible safety leadership in line with our values and Safety Management System, including pre-starts, toolbox talks, inspections and field leadership interactions
- Coordinate and supervise maintenance of signals, level crossings, TETRA radio, fibre optic backbone and associated infrastructure
- Prioritise defects and maintenance activities based on risk, safety and operational impact, ensuring all Technical Maintenance Plan activities are delivered safely and to standard
- Supervise contractors and suppliers, verifying performance, quality and compliance with contractual requirements
- Coordinate labour, plant, equipment, materials and inventory to keep maintenance delivery on track
- Contribute to weekly, monthly,



shutdown and annual maintenance planning, and provide input into OPEX budgets and CAPEX priorities
- Build strong relationships with Operations, Network Control, Carmichael Mine stakeholders, maintenance partners, councils and landowners — while keeping documentation and reporting accurate, on time and compliant with Rail Safety National Law

Should you ASPIRE to join our team, you will bring:

- Minimum 5 years' experience in railway signalling and/or telecommunications maintenance, construction or a related industry
- Certificate IV in Railway Signalling
- Current Open 'C' Class Driver Licence
- SARC – Safely Access the Rail Corridor (or the ability to obtain)
- General Construction Induction (White Card) or the ability to obtain
- Demonstrated experience supervising contractors, maintenance crews and field-based work
- Experience coordinating maintenance across geographically dispersed assets and operational environments
