About the role
Reporting to the General Manager City Infrastructure, the Manager City Operations provides strategic and operational leadership across a broad portfolio of essential community services and maintenance programs. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the City's operational services are delivered safely, efficiently and sustainably while meeting community expectations and Council objectives.
Leading a large and diverse workforce, you will oversee the delivery of:
- Civil infrastructure maintenance programs
- Urban forest, arboriculture and horticulture services
- Open space and recreational asset maintenance
- Rapid response and cleansing services
- Waste management operations and strategic waste initiatives
- Fleet, plant and equipment management
- Graffiti Volunteer Program coordination
- Contracted service delivery and procurement activities
As a member of the Senior Leadership Group, you will contribute to organisational strategy, workforce planning, risk management, business continuity, industrial relations and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with Elected Members, community groups, contractors, government agencies and key stakeholders to deliver outstanding service outcomes for the City of Unley community.
About You
You are an influential and team-oriented senior leader with a proven ability to lead complex operational environments and inspire high-performing teams.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Degree qualifications in business management, civil engineering, construction management, natural resource management or a related discipline.
- Proven senior leadership experience in complex operational environments, with the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in operational service delivery, asset management, procurement, contract management and budget oversight.
- Strong experience leading workforce initiatives, employee relations and organisational change.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Sound knowledge of governance, risk management, compliance and strategic service planning.
- A commitment to workplace safety, employee wellbeing and high-quality customer service.
- Strategic thinking, sound judgement and a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
