What you'll be doing The Emergency Management services provide advisory services for the district in responding to major incidents and similar threats to the Northern Sydney communities, including bushfires, explosions, chemical, biological and radiological incidents and civil unrest. The position is central to the planning, coordination, system design, testing, education, response, debrief and improvement of the system.

The Manager, Emergency Management Unit is responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating and overseeing the operations of the District’s Emergency Management and Business Continuity Program in Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD). The Manager, in an advisory capacity, is responsible, with the District’s Health Service Functional Area Coordinator (HSFAC), for the operational integrity and strategic deployment of the Emergency Management planning, response and recovery systems.

The position involves extensive collaboration with external agencies, including NSW State Health State Preparedness and Response Unit, emergency agencies, other Local Health District’s, private health providers and government agencies. This position will also have overall carriage of Business Continuity Management and has a support function for Critical Infrastructure Management for NSLHD.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

1.



Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent; and extensive experience in disaster medicine and business continuity management.
2. Demonstrated emergency management skills and extensive experience in planning, implementation, reporting and evaluation to ensure high quality deliverables during response and recovery.
3. A thorough knowledge of current health emergency management policy and operational systems at facility, district and state level across the range of disaster planning activities.
4. Describe your experience leading emergency management, disaster preparedness and/or business continuity programs in a complex organisation. Include an example that demonstrates your role in planning, implementation and evaluation of an emergency management initiative or response.
5. Provide an example of how you have applied health emergency management policies, frameworks or operational systems to improve preparedness, response capability or organisational resilience. What was your approach and what outcomes were achieved?
