Echuca is home to the largest operating fleet of paddlesteamers on the Murray River, delivering exceptional cruise experiences aboard iconic vessels. We are seeking a qualified and motivated Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 to join our engineering team based in Echuca, Victoria.
About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to work with mechanically unique vessels in a supportive and safety‑focused environment. Working on a rotating roster you will be responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of vessel machinery and onboard systems across our fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain steam and diesel propulsion systems in accordance with AMSA requirements.
- Conduct daily checks, routine maintenance, and defect reporting.
- Monitor vessel performance and ensure safe operation at all times.
- Support the Master and crew in delivering safe and high‑quality guest experiences.
- Uphold all safety, environmental, and company policies.
- Assist with engineering tasks during refits, maintenance periods, and inspections.
About You
- Hold a current AMSA Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 certificate, preferably combined with a Basic Boiler qualification, and a willingness to add Steam Reciprocating qualifications.
- Demonstrate robust mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
- Have a commitment to safety, professionalism, and teamwork.
- Enjoy working in a dynamic tourism environment with a focus on guest experience.
- Steam experience is highly regarded but not essential—training can be provided.
- You are fit and able to deliver safety obligations and lifting requirements.
