The Role

You’ll be responsible for diagnostics, servicing, repairs, and mechanical inspections across a wide range of marine diesel systems. This role includes:

- Servicing and repairing marine diesel engines (Volvo Penta, Cummins, Caterpillar, Yanmar, etc.)
- Troubleshooting engine performance, cooling systems, fuel systems, electrical faults, and driveline issues
- Performing scheduled maintenance, overhauls, and component replacements
- Sea trials, vessel testing, and operational checks
- Working independently on client vessels and representing JL Marine & Mechanical professionally
- Supporting workflow planning, job preparation, and parts coordination.

The workshop is located in O’Connor, however most work is mobile, you’ll regularly travel to marinas, boatyards and yacht clubs across the Perth region.

What We’re Looking For

- Fully qualified Marine Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic with marine experience
- Strong diagnostic ability and confidence working unsupervised
- Proven commitment to quality work, clean workmanship, and professional presentation
- Experience with inboard diesel engines, stern drives, gearboxes, and auxiliary systems
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients and maintain a professional standard




- Current driver’s licence (mandatory)
- Additional tickets (forklift, boat licence, confined space, etc.) are beneficial
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Comfortable working in marinas, onboard vessels, and in engine rooms.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $101,563.30 per year
