Talent Flare

Melbourne

Build the marketing function – and be hands-on enough to make it happen.

Talent Flare is partnering with an established Australian B2B technology company to appoint its first dedicated Marketing Manager.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll take ownership of marketing from the ground up – positioning, content, customer advocacy, sales enablement, events, marketing operations and ultimately demand generation.

This is a hands-on, high-energy role. You'll set the direction, but you'll also personally write the content, interview customers, create case studies, develop sales collateral, work on bids and tenders, manage the website, run campaigns and get involved in events. We're looking for someone who drives activity forward rather than waits for it to happen.

You'll have a genuine marketing budget and specialist external support for areas such as design, web development, video production and event logistics. But the thinking, messaging and delivery remain yours.

What you'll be doing

Your initial focus will be turning an impressive but largely untold customer story into compelling market proof, while building the marketing foundations the business needs.

- Build customer case studies, testimonials, references and video stories.
- Own positioning, messaging and content.
- Personally write high-quality marketing and sales content.
- Create sales enablement, pitch, tender and bid collateral.
- Own website content, structure and ongoing development.
- Own targeted customer and industry events end-to-end - from planning and coordination through to getting out front, speaking with customers and actively building relationships in the room.

- Establish practical marketing technology, lead flow, attribution and reporting.
- Build a structured customer communications program.
- Develop and execute a focused demand-generation strategy.
- Work closely with the CEO, business development and customer success.

The company will buy in specialist execution where it makes sense – you're not expected to be a designer, web developer or video producer – but this isn't a role where everything gets handed to an agency.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a B2B technology marketer who is genuinely hands-on.

You'll ideally bring around 4–7 years' marketing experience, although what you've personally delivered matters much more than tenure.

- B2B software or technology marketing experience.
- Experience as the first/only marketer, or in a small marketing team where you personally delivered the work.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills – this is critical.
- Experience personally interviewing customers and creating case studies.
- Hands-on website/content management experience.
- Experience delivering an event end-to-end.
- Experience creating sales, tender or bid collateral.
- Working knowledge of CRM, email marketing, reporting and marketing data.

- The ability to simplify complex technical or compliance-heavy subject matter.
- Practical experience using AI to improve marketing productivity and output.
- Experience marketing to government, defence, health, education or other regulated sectors would be an advantage, but isn't essential.

Who will thrive here? Someone who likes doing as much as directing.

You'll be comfortable moving from strategy to execution – interviewing a customer in the morning, writing their story afterwards, working with sales on a pitch, briefing a designer and then reviewing campaign performance.

You'll be curious, commercially minded, confident with customers and comfortable operating with significant autonomy.

You'll be an extroverted, visible marketer who enjoys being out front with customers - not someone who disappears behind the marketing plan. You'll manage the event, but you'll also work the room, start conversations and help create momentum with customers and prospects.

We're also looking for someone with a robust 'find a way to yes' mindset: proactive, resourceful and solutions-focused. When something isn't in place, your instinct is to make it happen. You create momentum, bring people with you and drive the marketing agenda forward.

What's on offer?

You'll have direct access to the CEO, genuine ownership of the marketing function, a real program budget and external specialists available when needed.

Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to build the marketing capability rather than inherit someone else's playbook, with scope for the function and your role to grow as the business develops.
