Job Description
We are seeking an experienced QC Team Leader -Biochemistry to provide operational leadership within our Quality Control function. Reporting to the QC Manager or Senior Manager, you will lead a team of scientists, analysts, and technicians to deliver high-quality testing outcomes while ensuring compliance with GMP, regulatory, quality, and safety requirements.

This position is a fixed term contract until February 2028 and that will be based onsite in Broadmeadows.

About The Role
n
As a QC Team Leader, you will oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring testing activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established quality systems and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in supporting team performance, operational excellence, and strategic quality initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Lead and develop a team of QC Scientists, Analysts, and Technicians.
n
- Ensure QC testing activities are delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements.
n
- Manage laboratory operations, workload planning, and resource allocation.
n
- Support investigations of quality events, deviations, and out-of-specification results.
n
- Review and approve testing activities and quality documentation.
n
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert during internal and external audits.
n
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, compliance, and efficiency.
n
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to meet business and customer needs.
n
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure HSE requirements are followed.
n
- Support staff training, performance management, and employee engagement.
n
- Contribute to site projects, method transfers, validations, and change management activities.
n
- Provide departmental leadership support and act as 2IC when required.
n

About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
n
n
- Degree in Natural Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
n
- Postgraduate qualifications (Masters) are advantageous.
n
- Minimum 5 years' experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or a highly regulated industry.
n
- Strong exposure to GMP or related quality systems.
n
- Previous people leadership or team management experience is highly desirable.
n
- Proven leadership and team development capability.
n
- Strong understanding of GMP, GxP, PIC/S, and regulatory requirements.
n
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organisational skills.
n
- Robust stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills.
n
- Ability to balance operational priorities while maintaining compliance and quality standards.
