About the role

Establish NQWLS’s current Mackay presence, delivering free, trauma-informed legal services in family law and domestic violence. Provide focused legal advice, manage selective casework, and lead regional outreach, community legal education, and policy advocacy without billable targets.

Duties

- Deliver practical legal advice and casework for family law and domestic violence matters.
- Draft legal documentation, correspondence, and advocate on behalf of clients.
- Lead regional outreach, community legal education, and remote duty lawyer services.
- Author submissions for research, policy development, and systemic law reform initiatives.
- Build local stakeholder networks across community organisations and government agencies.

Skills & experience

- Bachelor of Law and unrestricted QLD Supreme Court/High Court Practising Certificate.
- Current C Class Driver Licence and QLD Blue Card (or ability to obtain).
- Practical post-admission experience in family law, domestic violence, or community legal sector.
- Expertise delivering trauma-informed advice to culturally diverse clients.
- Strong decision-making, autonomous work, and multidisciplinary collaboration capabilities.
