About the role
NT Radiation Oncology is seeking a part-time Receptionist to join our team at the Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre in Tiwi, NT 0810. This is a crucial frontline position that serves as the first point of contact for our patients and visitors. As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and professional environment whilst ensuring the smooth operation of our reception area.
This part-time role offers flexibility whilst contributing meaningfully to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services in our community.
The role is for a fixed term of 12 months, with a potential to extend at the end of the contract.
Key responsibilities
- Greeting patients and visitors with professionalism and courtesy, ensuring a positive first impression
- Managing the reception desk and telephone enquiries efficiently and professionally
- Scheduling and confirming patient appointments using medical practice management software
- Processing patient registrations and maintaining accurate patient records
- Handling administrative documentation and correspondence with accuracy and confidentiality
- Liaising with clinical staff to ensure patient flow and timely appointment schedules
- Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming reception environment
- Supporting the wider medical team with general administrative duties as required

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse patient groups
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Discretion and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and data protection compliance
- A calm,
patient demeanour with the ability to handle enquiries sensitively
- Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to work part-time hours as required
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience working in a medical or healthcare reception environment
