About Us
IAG Defence & National Security (DNS) is part of IAG, a specialist advisory firm supporting complex infrastructure, Defence and national security programs across Australia. Our DNS team works closely with Commonwealth agencies and industry partners to deliver specialist expertise into nationally significant programs. Our success depends on our ability to identify, engage and mobilise highly specialised talent quickly and effectively.
IAG is recognised as a Veteran Friendly Employer under the Veteran Employment Program.
The Role
We're looking for experienced Senior Cloud Architects and/or Cloud Engineers to join a government CIO team, working remotely with occasional travel to Canberra (approximately quarterly). These roles are backfilling recent departures, so you'll be stepping into an established team supporting a range of ICT projects across the department.
You'll bring strong Microsoft Azure expertise, working across enterprise cloud architecture, solution design and platform automation, while collaborating with a mix of technical and non-technical stakeholders across a geographically dispersed team. Candidates can demonstrate strength in either architecture or hands-on engineering, though a blend of both is preferred for flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop enterprise-level cloud platform architectures for Microsoft Azure and M365
- Develop high-level solution architectures for cloud-based systems
- Develop detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineers
- Provide impact analysis of user and stakeholder requirements
- Ensure enterprise and system solutions adhere to whole-of-government standards
- Provide technical guidance and input into the design and build of cloud-based systems
- Liaise with cross-functional teams, including business owners, scrum masters, business analysts, developers and testers
- Liaise with Service Experience, ICT Engagement and Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure alignment to target architectures
- Provide expertise in platform automation, including testing, continuous integration and deployment
- Promote key enterprise architecture principles for cloud platforms (reuse before buy/build, configure over customise)
Required
- Current AGSVA Baseline security clearance
- Minimum 5 years' experience implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies
- Demonstrated experience with Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Service Bus and API Management
- Experience with Azure DevOps for code development, repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD deployments
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights
- Experience integrating cloud-based systems with third-party systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM
- Experience with Azure networking, security and identity management (Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints, RBAC)
- Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams and both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working within Agile multidisciplinary teams, with the ability to pragmatically adapt to changing scope
- Demonstrated track record of technical leadership across project and operational tasks highly regarded
- Minimum 3 years' experience designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems highly regarded
- Experience with AWS and/or GCP highly regarded
Engagement Details
Remote working arrangement, considered on a case-by-case basis depending on business needs -- approximately quarterly travel to Canberra expected. 12-month engagement, with extension options available.
