Role Description The Network Strategy & Enterprise Architecture Advisor is a contract role based in Canberra with a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site collaboration with flexibility for some work from home. This role is responsible for developing and refining network strategy and enterprise architecture roadmaps that align with organisational objectives, security requirements and regulatory standards. Day-to-day tasks include assessing current network and infrastructure capabilities, performing gap analyses, and recommending strategic improvements to support scalability, resilience and performance.
The advisor will consult with stakeholders across Defence, Government and enterprise environments, facilitate workshops,
and produce clear architecture documentation, standards and guidelines. The role also involves providing advisory support for major ICT programs, reviewing solution designs for alignment with enterprise architecture, and contributing to governance processes and investment planning.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills to assess complex ICT environments, perform gap analyses and develop evidence-based network and architecture recommendations.
- Demonstrated consulting experience, including Management Consulting in ICT or related fields, with the ability to advise senior stakeholders and facilitate workshops.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts in accessible language, produce high-quality documentation and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of finance and budgeting principles as they relate to ICT investment planning, cost-benefit analysis and business cases for network and architecture initiatives.
- Experience in network strategy, enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, SABSA), and modern infrastructure environments such as cloud, hybrid and on-premises solutions.
- Background in Defence, Federal Government or regulated enterprise environments, with knowledge of relevant security and compliance standards; active security clearance is highly regarded.
- Ability to work effectively in hybrid settings, managing priorities across in office and remote work, and delivering outcomes within contract timelines.
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline; professional certifications in enterprise architecture or network engineering are an advantage.
