Occupational Therapists | Come Practice for Real Life

Family Allied Health Ascot Vale | Croydon | Hastings

Full-time or Part-time | HPSS Level 1–3 | Multiple positions available

Family Allied Health is growing, and we're looking for Occupational Therapists to join our teams across Ascot Vale, Croydon and Hastings.

We work across the lifespan: from infancy and early childhood through adolescence, adulthood and later life.

We're not looking for one OT who can do everything.

We're looking for clinicians who bring their own strengths, interests and perspective — and who want to do occupational therapy that matters beyond the therapy room.

Come Practice for Real Life

We believe therapy should work in real life. Across all of our therapy disciplines, we want to build skills, capacity and resilience using the real people, real environments, real routines and real things that surround someone every day.

That philosophy shapes how we think about occupational therapy — including functional capacity and bagless practice.

We don't think functional capacity begins and ends with an assessment score or a list of things someone can and can't do.

We want to understand

What's getting in the way? What already supports them? What can we build? What can reasonably change around them? And where the workplace can't change, what genuine supports or scaffolding will help them participate within it?

Real life isn't always flexible.

We can advocate for environments to become more accessible, responsive and inclusive — and we should. But homes, classrooms, workplaces and communities can't always be completely reshaped around an individual.

Good therapy means understanding the person, the task and the environment well enough to determine what will genuinely help.

Think Beyond the Therapy Bag

You may know the concept of bagless therapy; using a person's own environment, routines and resources rather than arriving with a predetermined bag of therapy activities. We like that philosophy, and we take it a little further.

It doesn't mean you'll never use toys, equipment, sensory activities or therapy resources.

It means the activity follows the clinical reasoning - not the other way around.

Wherever therapy happens, we want it connected to the real task, environment or functional challenge we're trying to change.

That might mean working where life is actually happening- in a family home, classroom, workplace, supermarket or community.

Or it might mean deliberately recreating, practising or scaffolding that real-life challenge within one of our consulting rooms, play spaces or Therapy Kitchens.

You might be on the floor with a toddler and their parent, working on the morning routine at home,

understanding why the classroom is overwhelming, preparing food in a Therapy Kitchen, navigating a supermarket, building independence with a teenager or helping an adult adapt as their functional needs change.

The environment can be real or simulated.

The intervention might involve play, movement, sensory experiences, equipment or an everyday task.

But there should always be a clinical why.

We want clinicians who can explain what they're working towards, why they've chosen an intervention and how it connects back to meaningful participation beyond the therapy session.

Because the goal isn't to become positive at therapy.

It's to become more capable, confident and supported in real life.

Come practice for real life.

Find Your OT Thing

Babies? Brilliant. Neurodivergent kids? Great.

Adolescents and emerging adults? We need you.

Disability, functional capacity, mental health, transitions, neurological conditions, adult independence or ageing?

Bring it.

We're building an OT team across three clinics and across the lifespan, which means you don't need to be everything to everyone.

We'd rather know what makes you curious, where you already have expertise and what you'd love to become exceptionally good at.

And if you're a new graduate and don't know your thing yet?

That's okay too.

A Team That's Already Here

You won't be joining with the promise that we're going to build a multidisciplinary team. It's here. Our Family Allied Health team now includes Speech Pathologists, Dietitians, Mental Health Clinicians, Early Childhood Educators and Allied Health Assistants — with Occupational Therapy the next area we're growing.

Importantly, we're building on a stable team with clinicians who stay.

We value professional relationships that develop over time — between colleagues, with referrers and, most importantly, with the people and families who trust us with their care.

Different disciplines bring different perspectives. Sometimes the answer sits within OT. Sometimes another clinician helps you see something you hadn't considered.

That's the kind of multidisciplinary practice we're interested in.

Wherever You Are in Your Career

We're recruiting across HPSS Levels 1–3. New graduate? We've got your growth and development covered.

Experienced clinician? Bring your expertise and build the caseload you want to be known for.

Ready to lead? There are opportunities to supervise, mentor and contribute to the development of our growing allied health team.

We're interested in capability, curiosity and professional fit; and we recognise that the work and life experiences you've had along the way can shape the clinician you become.

What You'll Find Here

- Full time and part-time opportunities
- Roles across Ascot Vale, Croydon and Hastings
- HPSS Level 1–3, commensurate with experience and responsibilities
- Dedicated CPD support
- Clinical supervision and professional development
- An established, stable multidisciplinary team
- Purpose-built Therapy Kitchens, play and clinical spaces
- Clinic, home and community-based practice
- Scope to develop specialist interests
- Opportunities to learn, practise, supervise or lead, depending on your career stage.

We take private practice seriously as a clinical career.

The Essentials

You'll need:

- A Bachelor or Masters qualification in Occupational Therapy recognised in Australia
- Current registration with AHPRA, or eligibility for registration on graduation
- A current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one where required
- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness and eligibility to obtain one prior to commencement where required
- Eligibility to work in Australia.

More importantly, we're looking for OTs who are curious, thoughtful, evidence-informed and able to connect with people; clinicians who know their scope, value multidisciplinary practice and want their work to make sense in the context of someone's actual life.

Three Clinics. One Growing Team.

Therapy Kitchen – Ascot Vale 532 Mt Alexander Road

Ascot Vale VIC

Therapy Kitchen – Croydon

435 Dorset Road

Croydon VIC

Food Play Grow – Hastings

37–41 Victoria Street

Hastings VIC

Your role can be predominantly based at one clinic.

We're interested in finding the right fit between clinician, community, caseload and location: not sending everyone everywhere.

Could This Be Your Kind of OT?

If you like understanding why before deciding what... If you'd rather build something useful than simply complete an activity...

If you believe good therapy should survive contact with real life...

we should probably talk.

You don't need to be everything to everyone.

Bring your OT lens. Bring your curiosity. Bring the experiences that have shaped you.

Come practice for real life.

Apply through SEEK with your CV and a short cover letter telling us a little about the OT you are - or the OT you'd like to become.
