This is an exciting opportunity for someone who brings together technical expertise, creativity and commercial thinking, and wants to play a key role in developing innovative, sustainable and beautifully executed packaging across the Koko Black Group portfolio.

? About the Role

As our Packaging Engineer, you'll lead the technical development and optimisation of packaging solutions across Koko Black, Chocolatier Australia, licensed products and contract manufacturing partnerships.

Working closely with Innovation, Marketing, Operations, Procurement, Quality and Supply Chain, you'll take packaging from concept through to production, ensuring every solution balances our premium brand experience with functionality, manufacturability, sustainability and cost effectiveness.

You'll also play an important role in supporting new product development, continuous improvement and the evolution of our manufacturing capability.

✨ What You'll Be Doing

You'll

- Lead the technical development of packaging solutions from concept through to commercial production
- Develop packaging specifications, engineering drawings, production standards and technical documentation
- Analyse packaging materials, formats and technologies for product protection, shelf life, food safety and manufacturing suitability
- Lead packaging trials, production validations and transit testing
- Partner with our NPD, Marketing, Production,



Quality and Supply Chain teams throughout Stage & Gate projects
- Explore creative and new-to-market packaging solutions that elevate our premium brand and customer experience
- Work with domestic and international suppliers to explore new materials, formats and packaging innovations
- Conduct value engineering reviews and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or presentation
- Drive more sustainable packaging solutions, including recyclable, compostable and lower-impact alternatives
- Identify opportunities to reduce material usage and packaging complexity
- Troubleshoot packaging-related production issues and work with Production to improve line efficiency and reduce downtime
- Support the introduction of new packaging equipment, materials and processes
- Stay across emerging packaging technologies, legislation, regulations and industry best practice

? About You We're Looking For Someone Who Brings

- Experience in packaging engineering, packaging development or a related technical discipline
- Strong technical knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes and production requirements
- Experience developing packaging from concept through to commercialisation
- Confidence conducting packaging trials, testing and production validation
- An understanding of product protection, shelf life, food safety and packaging compliance




- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical and production challenges
- An interest in sustainable packaging, innovation and emerging packaging technologies
- Commercial thinking, with the ability to balance cost, quality, functionality, sustainability and brand requirements
- Robust stakeholder management skills and the confidence to work across technical and creative teams
- Experience working with packaging manufacturers, printers, toolmakers, material suppliers or testing partners would be highly regarded
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach and a genuine passion for quality and continuous improvement
