Role Description The People & Culture Officer provides practical and responsive support across the employee lifecycle, ensuring day-to-day P&C; activities and transactions are delivered accurately, efficiently and consistently.

Working closely with the People and Culture Manager, the role supports recruitment, onboarding, employee administration, performance processes, training, engagement and compliance, with a solid focus on effective use of P&C; systems and workflows.

This role is a fixed term contract role based in Canberra office.

Main Duties

- Coordinate recruitment activities, including candidate administration, interviews and pre-employment requirements.
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding, ensuring documentation, system updates and workflow requirements are completed accurately and on time.
- Manage employee lifecycle transactions, including new starters, employee changes, transfers, contract variations and departures.
- Maintain accurate employee records, P&C; systems, registers and supporting documentation.




- Prepare employment contracts, letters, variations and other routine P&C; documentation.
- Coordinate probation and performance processes, including tracking and follow-up of required actions.
- Coordinate mandatory and role specific training and maintain accurate training and compliance records.
- Use P&C; systems and workflow tools effectively to manage transactions, approvals, actions and employee data.
- Support People & Culture projects and initiatives, including employee engagement, wellbeing, surveys, internal communication and process improvements.
- Support P&C; compliance, reporting, audits and continuous improvement of systems, processes and workflows.

Experience

- Qualification in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline, or relevant practical experience.
- Approximately 2–3 years' experience in a P&C;/HR Officer, Coordinator or similar operational role.
- Good understanding of employee lifecycle transactions and processes.
- Demonstrated experience using HR/P&C; systems, workflow tools and digital processes.
- Strong systems capability and confidence in learning and working across different platforms.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in employee records, documentation and system transactions.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workflows, deadlines and follow-up actions.
- Ability to take ownership of tasks and follow matters through to completion.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees and managers.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling employee information.
