We are seeking an experienced and relationship-focused Philanthropy Specialist to help grow the sustainable philanthropic support that makes this work possible.
Reporting to the Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager, you will manage a diverse portfolio spanning trusts and foundations, grants and Gifts in Wills. You will build genuine relationships with supporters, develop compelling funding proposals and demonstrate the impact of their generosity through high-quality stewardship and reporting.
About the role
As Philanthropy Specialist, you will:
- Manage and strengthen relationships with trusts, foundations, grant makers and Gifts in Wills supporters
- Research and qualify current philanthropic and grant opportunities aligned with Hutt St Centre’s priorities
- Develop persuasive funding proposals, grant applications, presentations and acquittals
- Maintain a proactive pipeline of prospective and existing philanthropic supporters
- Create tailored donor journeys, impact communications and stewardship activities
- Coordinate supporter meetings, tours, updates and recognition opportunities
- Work with program, finance, communications and impact teams to gather compelling stories, evidence and outcomes
- Ensure funding agreements, reporting commitments and compliance obligations are met
- Maintain accurate portfolio, supporter and funding records in Salesforce
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and the supporter experience
About you You are a skilled relationship builder and communicator who understands that successful philanthropy is built on trust, shared purpose and genuine engagement.
You will bring
- At least four years’ experience in philanthropy, fundraising or stakeholder relationship management, preferably within the for-purpose sector
- Experience across trusts and foundations, grants, donor stewardship or Gifts in Wills
- Strong knowledge of the Australian philanthropic landscape and grant-making environment
- Excellent writing skills, with demonstrated experience preparing persuasive proposals, applications, acquittals and impact reports
- The ability to engage confidently and respectfully with a diverse range of supporters and stakeholders
- Strong research, planning and portfolio management skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines
- A collaborative, solutions-focused and emotionally intelligent approach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using Salesforce or a similar CRM
A tertiary qualification in business, marketing or a related field will be highly regarded. You must have, or be willing to obtain both a satisfactory National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check. Due to the requirements of the role, a valid driver’s licence will be required.

The role is available at either fulltime or as a 0.8 FTE, providing flexibility for the right candidate. Some work outside regular office hours may occasionally be required.
