Plant Accountant | 12-Month FTC | Manufacturing

Are you a commercially minded accountant looking to gain valuable exposure within a large manufacturing setting? Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Brisbane's western suburbs, is seeking a Plant Accountant to join their finance team on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role offers a broad mix of financial accounting, manufacturing cost analysis, inventory accounting, month-end reporting and business partnering.

Your new role

As Plant Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting the financial performance of the site through accurate reporting, analysis and financial controls. You will work closely with finance and operational stakeholders, providing insights that support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and support month-end close activities, including journals, accruals and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly P&L; reports, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
- Manage inventory accounting, stock reconciliations and inventory reporting
- Analyse manufacturing costs, labour utilisation, overheads and production variances
- Support fixed asset accounting, capital expenditure tracking and depreciation processes
- Prepare compliance reporting, including BAS and audit support documentation
- Develop KPI reports,



management reporting packs and financial commentary
- Partner with operational leaders to provide meaningful financial insights and performance analysis
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal control

What you'll need to succeed

- Degree qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Progress towards or completion of CA/CPA qualifications
- Previous experience in a management accounting, plant accounting or commercial accounting role
- Exposure to manufacturing, industrial, FMCG or similar operational environments
- Strong reconciliation, reporting and analytical skills
- Experience working with inventory and cost accounting principles
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across the business
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving
