About The Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Plant Superintendent to join our Queensland Chlor-Alkali manufacturing facility in Lytton, Queensland.
As Plant Superintendent, you will provide direction and support to Team Leaders, Operators and Laboratory personnel while driving a strong culture of safety, accountability, teamwork and operational excellence.
This is a key leadership position responsible for coordinating daily production activities, workforce planning, training and competency development, operational performance, and stakeholder collaboration across production, maintenance, laboratory, logistics and safety functions
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and developing a team of Team Leaders, Operators and Laboratory personnel.
- Managing workforce planning, rosters, leave scheduling and operational staffing requirements.
- Driving a strong safety culture through leadership, coaching, emergency preparedness and compliance.
- Ensuring employees are trained, competent and capable of safely performing their roles.
- Monitoring plant operations and ensuring operational procedures, inspections and records are completed accurately.
- Coordinating production requirements and planning activities to maximise plant availability and minimise interruptions.
- Working closely with Maintenance to coordinate repairs, shutdown activities and operational priorities.
- Managing operational consumables, inventories and stock control processes.
- Supporting laboratory operations to ensure adequate capability and resourcing.
- Leading incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participating in workplace health and safety activities and committees.
- Acting in the Plant Manager's capacity for operational decision making when required.
The Successful Candidate will have You are a capable operational leader who enjoys developing people, solving problems and driving high performance in a safety-critical environment. To be successful, you will ideally possess:
- Proven leadership experience within a manufacturing, processing, industrial or operational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop teams.
- Strong understanding of safety management systems and risk management.
- Experience managing employee performance, training and workforce planning.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong organisational and planning capabilities.
- The ability to make sound operational decisions and respond effectively to changing production requirements.
- Understanding of production processes and plant equipment.
- Knowledge of industrial agreements, awards and workforce management practices
