About the role

Buranda Family Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated Practice Nurse to join our healthcare team on a part-time basis. Based in Woolloongabba, QLD, this role is central to delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our GPs in providing comprehensive medical services to our diverse community. As a Practice Nurse, you will be a vital member of our clinical team, ensuring patients receive excellent nursing support whilst managing their health conditions and attending preventative care appointments.

Key responsibilities

- Performing clinical nursing assessments and vital sign monitoring for patients across a range of medical conditions
- Assisting GPs during consultations and minor procedures
- Administering vaccinations and immunisations according to national guidelines
- Providing wound care management and dressing changes
- Supporting patients with chronic disease management programmes, including diabetes, hypertension and asthma
- Conducting health screening and preventative health checks
- Collecting and processing patient samples for pathology testing
- Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with privacy and confidentiality requirements
- Providing patient education and health promotion advice
- Contributing to the smooth running of the medical practice through efficient administrative support
- Ensuring compliance with infection control and safety protocols

What we're looking for

- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as an Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse
- A minimum of two years' experience working in general practice nursing or a similar primary healthcare setting




- Strong clinical knowledge of common medical conditions and nursing interventions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency in using medical practice management software and electronic health records
- A sound understanding of infection control principles and workplace health and safety standards
- The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- A compassionate approach to patient care with a commitment to providing safe and effective nursing support
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Preferred experience in immunisation administration and chronic disease management
