AI is transforming how organisations serve customers, make decisions and deliver value. As Principal, Responsible AI, you'll lead the governance and assurance approach for AI across Retail Insurance Australia (RIA), helping ensure AI is adopted safely, ethically and effectively. Working across risk, legal, privacy, technology, data and business teams, you'll translate Responsible AI principles into practical controls that enable innovation while protecting customers and meeting regulatory expectations.

This isn't about building AI models. It's about building confidence in AI. You'll help establish the governance, controls and assurance practices that enable the safe, ethical and effective use of AI across RIA.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney), Naarm (Melbourne) or Meanjin (Brisbane).

What You'll Do

- Lead Responsible AI governance across RIA, embedding practical standards, controls and assurance practices aligned to enterprise policy, risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
- Partner with business, risk, legal, privacy, cyber, technology and AI delivery teams to identify, assess and manage AI-related risks and obligations.
- Guide teams on Responsible AI principles including transparency, explainability, fairness, accountability, privacy, security, human oversight and customer outcomes.




- Lead AI risk assessments, governance reviews and readiness activities to support the secure deployment and scaling of AI solutions.
- Design and implement governance frameworks, operational controls, monitoring practices and assurance mechanisms across the AI lifecycle.
- Maintain oversight of AI initiatives, including risk classifications, ownership, control requirements and ongoing monitoring obligations.
- Build Responsible AI capability across the organisation through education, coaching and practical guidance for teams using or developing AI-enabled solutions.

What You'll Bring

- Experience leading or implementing Responsible AI, AI governance, technology risk, model risk, data governance or compliance practices within a complex organisation.
- Strong understanding of AI systems and how governance, assurance and control frameworks can be applied in practice.
- Experience translating regulatory obligations, policy requirements and risk frameworks into practical controls and business guidance.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders across technical and non-technical environments and build trusted relationships.
- Experience partnering with AI, technology, data or digital delivery teams within complex and highly regulated environments.




- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to simplify complex governance and risk concepts into clear, actionable outcomes.
