As the Principal Scientist, you will lead and manage the Soil and Land Resources team, delivering research and operational programs that support Queensland's soil and land management priorities. Oversee the successful delivery of projects, providing scientific leadership, staff and budget management, and expert guidance in soil assessment, monitoring and land resource management. Build partnerships and represent the department externally, driving new initiatives and communicating soil and land resource issues to stakeholders, clients, and government committees.

We are seeking an experienced team leader with proven ability to develop and deliver multidisciplinary projects on time and within budget, achieving high-quality scientific outcomes.
Extensive expertise in soil health, land degradation, land resource assessment, and evidence-based policy development. Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience managing teams, building partnerships and providing trusted scientific advice.
It is a requirement of this role to hold and unrestricted manual car licence and light rigid licence or the ability to acquire it (with financial support ) within the probation period.
