Hyundai Rotem Company (HRC) was founded in 1977 and since that time, has been leading the industry globally by delivering critical national infrastructure in over 50 countries. A leader in the Korean rail industry, HRC has succeded in developing high-speed trains and is now establishing their presence in the Australian market.

Currently, the Australian operation of HRC is working on two major projects:

- The New Intercity Fleet (NIF) Project - a joint venture between HRC, UGL and MEA, this project is delivering a fleet of new intercity trains for operation in the NSW electrified rail network. The fleet comprises of 55 Long Units and 70 Short Units for the Newcastle, Blue Mountains, South Coast and Central Coast Lines; and
- The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) - a project commissioning, designing and constructing a new manufacturing facility in Torbanlea Qld and a new maintenance facility in Ormeau Qld. It includes manufacturing and delivering 65 EMU Train sets (390 cars) by the end of 2031.

Combined local and international design teams and suppliers will work together to ensure the delivery of manufacturing requirements and associated documentation to ensure that train sets locally manufactured in Australia meet the design, compliance, manufactuability, reliability, maintainability and safety specifications for the trains operational life for a minimum of at least 35 years. 1. PROJECT OVERVIEW The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) is a multibillion project starting in 2023 with an estimated full train sets manufacturing and delivery by the end 2031. The project includes the design, construction and commissioning of: a new manufacturing facility in Torbanlea, 65 EMU train sets (390 cars) and a new maintenance facility in Ormeau in Queensland.

The new train sets will be manufactured, tested and delivered from Torbanlea Manufacturing Facility. The state of art train design for safety, communications, security, accessibility, amenity and comfort for the passengers and rail operational staff will meet all specifications and latest standards requirements.





A combined local and overseas team will be in cooperation with Fraser Coast and Queensland rolling stock equipment local suppliers.

2. ROLE OVERVIEW The Production Engineer (Electrical) implements and stabilises standard production processes as part of developmental and series production activities to achieve time, cost and quality objectives.

Working as part of a joint-venture team, the Production Engineer will be integral part of the Transfer of Technology (ToT) phase to optimize 4M manufacturing principles (Man Methods, Material and Machine) of interior & exterior Carbody fitout stations.

Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement are an inherent part of the role, which will involve method studies, identifying bottlenecks, production troubleshooting, reviewing and updating technical documents, process improvement (including design review) to improve productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

The Production Engineer is responsible for the process and operational safety requirements with the support of the Zero Harm team.

This role requires collaboration with various teams, monitoring production metrics, and ensuring compliance with technical, safety and quality standards.

This is a full-time permanent position at the new QTMP manufacturing facility located in Torbanlea, Queensland.

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Deliver a comprehensive DILO (Day-in-the-life) model using the 3P (Production, Preparation and Process) to prepare for the day one production readiness.
- Develop, produce and update technical documents to include work instructions, modification instructions, cable harness manufacturing requirements, Etc.
- Ensure that all methods' technical information is up-to-date, complete and available on time.
- Liaises with the engineering and methods functions using the DfMA process to optimise the design.
- Troubleshoot the manufacturing of electrical outfitting in the manufacturing and assembly workshops.




- Working with the production team to optimise and debug the design and the build methodology.
- Validating the methods, equipment, tooling and processes to meet production requirements to achieve stability in series production.
- Perform production-line balancing with resources and skills requirements using Value Stream Analysis, Yamazumi chart or similar tools.
- Ensure build process instruction meets production needs in liaison with Production Engineering and the Zero Harm team.
- Liaise with stakeholders and support functions to lead a comprehensive Validation of Industrialisation Process (VIP) readiness to achieve series production.
- Ensure that the introduction of design changes is effectively coordinated.
- Provide oversight and control of electrician & tool (crimping) certification.
- Provide technical support for the single car test/inspection (i.e. di-electric breakdown testing, bell testing, Etc.).
- Act as a first responder to production stoppages to solve methods-related problems to ensure production continuity.

4. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar).
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the manufacture or overhaul of rollingstock, or similar product manufacturing.
- Demonstrable practical experience in the use of contemporary production engineering methodologies.
- Experience of wiring and electrical connector crimping and assembly methods.
- Experience in jig and fixture design
- A valuable understanding of electrical manufacturing standards.
- Has a good knowledge of DfMA or Value Improvement Process (VIP) principles.
- Experience in SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Has a basic skill of CATIA V6 & AutoCAD (operating & modification) and is able to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Has a basic skill of MS software (Power point, Excel, Word)
- Has a good understanding of related disciplines within the project organization
