About Us
We are a boutique architecture practice working on a curated portfolio of premium single-residential projects from considered new builds and heritage alterations to major renovations, executive residences, penthouses and rural estates.
With several exciting projects having just converted and a healthy forward pipeline, we are entering a phase of deliberate growth and are looking for an experienced Project Architect to join the core team.
This isn’t a studio with the director’s names on the door. We operate with a flat structure, and this role is a true all-rounder where your design, coordination and documentation skills are used daily.
We take our work incredibly seriously, but our studio is easy-going, collaborative and enjoyable. We’re partial to a Friday drink, industry events and a laugh throughout the working day.
The Studio
If you thrive in a highly interactive, in-person studio environment where mentorship and quick team alignment happen in real-time, you'll fit right in. We often ideate projects as a team using old-school pens, paper, and wild hand gestures to collaboratively think big, then work that through to a beautiful, buildable, budget-aligned vision, and make it happen.
We fully administer every project. What is designed, gets realised.
The Role
This role sits at the heart of a young but growing practice. You will be a true peer to our directors, taking a key role in projects from cradle to grave. You’ll drive front-end design, back-end delivery, consultant coordination, contract administration, mentor junior staff and everything in between.
This isn’t a role where you’ll be pigeon-holed; you’ll own your projects and manage multiple unique projects simultaneously. As we grow the studio over time, we foresee this role organically shifting into a more senior Associate.
About You
You are a registered architect with a deep appreciation for high-end detail, robust construction knowledge, and specific experience in the Melbourne premium residential market. The idea of "that's valuable enough" or "leave it to the builder" simply aren’t in your DNA.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Qualifications & Experience: Relevant qualifications in Architecture with active ARBV registration, and at least five years of experience in an Australian high-end residential design setting (ideally Melbourne). Commercial experience would be valued.
- Industry Networks: A strong, established local network of consultants, builders and suppliers.
- Cradle-to-Grave Capability: A portfolio showcasing successfully executed projects from inception and town planning through to detailed documentation, coordination and site delivery. You will have strong budget acumen, build sensibility and your documentation will be tight.
- Front End Design: Strong design skills in a residential context across architecture, interiors and landscape.
- Technical Rigor: Excellent knowledge of residential detailing, materials,
construction systems and finishes, alongside a strong grasp of building regulations, BCA/NCC standards, ResCode and current build costs.
- The Tech Stack: Strong Revit skills are essential and non-negotiable. Solid proficiency in SketchUp, rendering suites and Adobe Creative Suite is also required.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills. You can confidently guide clients and effectively work with consultants and builders.
- Culture Fit: An easy-going attitude, good for a laugh and a desire to help actively build a growing practice. You’ll love dogs – we have a studio ‘Floor Manager’.
What We Offer
- Impact & Growth: The opportunity to join a growing practice at a critical milestone, shape the studio, and become an integral part of our story.
- The Best of Both Worlds: The creative freedom of a boutique design house backed by systems, processes and rigor.
- Mentorship: Direct, daily collaboration and support from two highly experienced, hands-on directors both from the commercial Tier-1 space.
- Perks: Competitive salary, regular social outings, birthday leave, and a central South Melbourne studio right next to the market.
Interested? If this sounds like the alignment you’ve been looking for, we would love to chat. Please submit your CV, cover letter outlining why you are interested in the role, and a link to your curated portfolio (PDF, <12mb) demonstrating your skillset, approach and experience via SEEK.
Note: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Agency applications will not opened, nor considered.
