About the Role
Our client is seeking a capable Project Engineer to take ownership of defined work packages on a major civil/infrastructure project in Melbourne. This role carries broader technical, commercial and subcontractor management responsibility than a Site Engineer, working closely with the Senior Project Engineer and Project Manager to keep assigned packages on program, on budget and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end ownership of assigned work packages, from planning through to completion and handover.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, scopes of work, and day-to-day performance for assigned packages.
- Review and approve technical documentation, shop drawings and method statements.
- Prepare and manage RFIs, variations and contract correspondence for assigned scope.
- Monitor and report cost, program and quality performance against budget and baseline program.
- Coordinate with design, survey and quality teams to proactively resolve technical issues.
- Mentor and provide technical direction to Site Engineers and graduate engineers.
- Ensure work is delivered in line with project WHS and environmental management plans.
- Contribute to progress claims, cost forecasting and monthly reporting.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- 5+ years' experience in civil, infrastructure or building construction, including subcontractor management.
- Demonstrated experience taking a work package from planning through to completion.
- Working knowledge of contract administration principles and construction methodology.
- Current Victorian driver's licence and construction industry White Card.
- Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and project scheduling/reporting tools.
