Overview
We’re looking for an adaptable Project Officer to help deliver meaningful digital innovation for Queensland councils through our LGAQ Lab. This is not a traditional engineering or structured project delivery role. It will suit someone who enjoys working with people, creating practical support materials, keeping things moving and bringing a calm, consistent approach when priorities shift.
As the Project Officer, you will provide flexible project coordination and administrative support to the Innovation Manager and the LGAQ Lab. You will help guide member councils through digital solutions projects from discovery through to adoption, ensuring they feel supported, informed and confident at every stage. This includes coordinating onboarding activities, keeping project information organised, supporting communication between councils, vendors and internal teams, and helping translate ideas into practical actions.
About you The role is ideal for someone who is curious, steady and solutions focused. You will enjoy experimenting and learning through trial and error, while also bringing reliable follow through, clear communication and a consistent experience for the people you support. The ability to move between multiple activities is important, as workloads and priorities will vary throughout the year.
This role reports to the Innovation Manager and will work closely with the Digital Workstream overall.
Applications from people with diverse lived experience and identities are strongly encouraged, as the more diverse our team is, the better we can represent our diverse membership.
This role may require some out of hours work during periods of peak work load.
This is a part time contract role until July 2027 based in Newstead, Qld.
The Position Description is available on the LGAQ careers page https://www.lgaq.asn.au/About-Us/Work-at-LGAQ About LGAQ The LGAQ is the peak industry body and registered industrial employer organisation for Queensland’s 77 local councils, a sector that employs in excess of 44,000 Queenslanders across circa 250 various professions.
