Primary objective
Support the Project Manager, Directors and Executive Director with the development and delivery of vocational education and training (VET) initiatives through project coordination, stakeholder engagement, advice and analysis, contributing to departmental objectives and skills development outcomes across the Northern Territory.
Context statement
Skills and Pathways NT is the Northern Territory’s state training authority and supports skills development through the vocational education and training (VET) system. This role is outward-facing and requires regular engagement with stakeholders to support training initiatives.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Research, analyse and prepare briefs, reports, submissions, correspondence and other documentation to support decision-
making by senior executives and the Minister.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support project delivery and workforce development initiatives.
- Coordinate and support the delivery of projects and initiatives, including planning, monitoring progress, managing project documentation, identifying risks, and reporting on outcomes.
- Consult and engage stakeholders to identify workforce needs, contribute to evidence-based advice and support the development and implementation of training initiatives.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience coordinating or managing projects from planning through to implementation and evaluation, including stakeholder
management, monitoring progress, managing risks, reporting and delivery of agreed outcomes.
- Ability to provide practical advice, influence outcomes and build productive relationships through consultation, negotiation and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to research, analyse and prepare reports, submissions, correspondence and briefing material for senior decision-makers,
together with an understanding of government processes or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, take responsibility for outcomes and adapt to changing business needs in a dynamic setting.
- Experience building and maintaining effective working relationships, undertaking consultation, and engaging with industry,
registered training organisations, government agencies and other stakeholders to support training and project outcomes.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary and/or experience in project management, business, public administration, vocational education and training
(VET), industry engagement, community development or government program. Further information The selected applicant must hold a current NT Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card) and ‘C’ class driver’s licence or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
