APS6 Strategic Communications Officer

Duration: 9 month initial contract

About the Role

Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced Communications Professional to support the delivery of communication, stakeholder engagement and public relations activities. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will develop clear, accessible and engaging communications that support organisational priorities, while ensuring content is culturally appropriate, inclusive and responsive to diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and deliver communication materials across a range of channels, including digital, social media, presentations, publications and events.
- Coordinate communication, stakeholder engagement and public relations activities to achieve project outcomes.
- Prepare communication plans, briefing materials, reports and other supporting documentation.
- Develop and quality assure visual communication products, including graphics, infographics and presentations.
- Provide communications advice and support to internal stakeholders and project teams.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and evaluate communication activities, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Maintain communication resources, content calendars and digital assets.
- Ensure communications are culturally appropriate, accessible and aligned with best-practice engagement principles.

About You

- Demonstrated experience in communications, stakeholder engagement or public relations.
- Robust written and verbal storytelling skills,



with the ability to translate complex information into clear, audience-focused content.
- Well-developed organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience developing communication plans, briefings and reports.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and apply culturally competent communication practices.
- Understanding of inclusive engagement approaches and the ability to develop communications that are respectful of diverse cultural perspectives.

Desirable

- Experience supporting large-scale projects, programs or organisational initiatives.
- Knowledge of digital communications, content management and stakeholder engagement best practices.
- Experience producing visual communication materials and working with external creative providers.
