QUALIFIED MECHANIC / WORKSHOP MANAGER

Full-Time Position | Busy Light Vehicle Mechanical Workshop

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Qualified Mechanic / Workshop Manager to join our busy light vehicle mechanical workshop.

This is more than just a mechanic’s role. We are looking for someone with the experience, leadership skills and confidence to manage the day-to-day operation of the workshop, while continuing to carry out quality mechanical work.

About the Role The successful applicant will be responsible for:

- Managing the day-to-day operations of the workshop
- Diagnosing, servicing and repairing light vehicles
- Managing workflow and ensuring jobs are completed efficiently and to a high standard
- Supervising and supporting workshop staff, including an apprentice
- Allocating jobs and managing workshop priorities
- Communicating with customers regarding vehicle repairs and servicing
- Conducting vehicle inspections and providing accurate repair recommendations
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop
- Ensuring work is completed in accordance with relevant safety and industry standards
- Assisting with parts ordering and job management
- Providing leadership, training and guidance to less experienced staff

About You

We are seeking someone who:

- Is a fully qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic
- Has significant industry experience and the ability to confidently run a busy workshop
- Has previous experience supervising or managing staff
- Is capable of working independently and making sound decisions
- Has excellent diagnostic and mechanical skills
- Has excellent communication and customer service skills
- Is literate and able to confidently read, understand and complete job cards,



reports and other written documentation
- Is organised, reliable and able to prioritise competing workloads
- Takes pride in their workmanship and has a strong attention to detail
- Is confident dealing with customers, suppliers and staff
- Is willing and able to mentor and supervise an apprentice
- Holds a current and valid Australian driver's licence

Additional Qualifications – Highly Regarded The following qualifications, licences or experience would be a strong advantage, although they are not essential:

- Automotive Air Conditioning (A/C) licence
- Roadworthy / Safety Certificate licence
- Modification Plate / Mod Plate licence
- Auto Electrical qualification or experience
- Diagnostic scan tool experience
- Additional automotive industry qualifications or certifications
