About the opportunity

Based in Perth’s northern metropolitan area, Altrad are seeking an experienced QA/QC inspector with strong site-based construction experience to support the delivery of a major SMP project. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to delivering WA’s next major water source at the Alkimos Desalination plant.

Working as part of the project quality team and reporting to the QA/QC Manager, this role will provide field-based quality support across structural, mechanical and piping activities. You will play a key role in ensuring construction activities comply with approved Inspection & Test Plans, project specifications, applicable standards and client requirements.

This is a hands-on role suited to a quality professional who is confident working closely with construction teams, Subcontractors and the Client to maintain high standards of workmanship and drive a “right first-time” approach.

In this role you will:

- Conduct progressive inspections across structural, mechanical and piping work fronts.
- Complete and sign off ITPs and ITRs throughout construction.
- Support project walkdowns, final inspections and punch-list closeout.
- Coordinate and maintain quality documentation, including MDRs, test results, NCR’s, material certificates and as-built records.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance against approved quality plans and procedures.
- Support field-level Management of Change processes and ensure deviations are appropriately documented and approved.




- Upload and manage quality documentation through client CMS systems.
- Provide technical guidance to supervisors and site teams on specifications, standards and quality requirements.
- Validate as-built drawings and registers against completed site installations.
- Coordinate and monitor NDT activities and third-party testing requirements.
- Monitor blast and paint activities against project specifications and requirements.
- Prepare daily and weekly quality reports, identifying technical risks, recurring defects and potential schedule impacts.
- Contribute to quality-focused initiatives, training and re-focus sessions across the SMP team.
- Promote Altrad’s HSEQ standards and a culture of quality across the project.

About you You will be an experienced quality professional with a strong background in SMP construction and a detailed understanding of field-based quality control and project documentation To be successful, you will have:

- Significant experience in a similar QA/QC or QC inspection role.
- WS-10 Welding Supervisor (AS1796 Certificate No. 10) or CSWIP Welding Inspector (WI 3.1) highly desirable.
- NACE II qualification.
- Strong knowledge and experience with welding standards.
- Demonstrated experience completing ITRs, ITPs and flange management sign-offs.
- Experience with MDR development and compilation.
- Experience managing quality documentation, as-built drawings and handover requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and a process-oriented approach.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of compliance.
- Strong Microsoft Office, Excel, PDF editing and project software skills.
