In this role, you'll: Work collaboratively with teams across OTSI to identify safety issues through research and analysis and contribute to the provision of recommendations to improve safety across the NSW public transport network.
You’ll also research safety priorities to develop evidence-based papers and material that clearly articulate related causes and implications for consideration.

About You You are an experienced Researcher with excellent written and verbal communication skills, ideally with a background in transport to research and identify trends and issues by examining data and reports to make recommendations relating to safety outcomes.
Your stakeholder engagement skills are essential as you liaise and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders including individuals and associations to enhance your knowledge and understanding of issues and iniatives.
You will have the ability to manage a number of projects concurrently as well as being able to respond quickly to urgent incidents where you will gather essential information which may inform future recommendations.
You will have the ability to undertake pre-delivery risk assessments.
Your background will ideally be in the transport industry in research, policy or Human Factors.
Who We Are The Office of Transport Safety Investigations (OTSI) is the independent ‘no-blame’ transport safety investigator for NSW.
Our role is to improve transport safety and enhance public confidence in the safety of the network by conducting fair and balanced investigations and sharing safety lessons and insights with bus, ferry and rail operators, regulators, and other stakeholders who can take action to improve the safety of services.
OTSI also manages the Confidential Safety Information Reporting Scheme (CSIRS) which gives transport workers a confidential way to make a report about a safety issue affecting a bus, ferry or rail service.
